Microwave Packaging Technology, Inc., announced a research effort with Azusa Pacific University (APU)
The research effort is to develop technologies for the detection of drones and UAVs. The technology has to potential to be a low cost method to detect and discriminate drones from other targets such as birds. “This is a significant advance in our radar and remote sensing capabilities,” says Dr. Rick Sturdivant, Founder and CTO of MPT. The research will be directed by Dr. Enson Chang who is an Assistant Professor at APU. The radar leverages an existing X-band sensor and uses signal processing for discrimination.
Microwave Packaging Technology, Inc. is a company that supplies phased array components and systems. MPT develops solutions for the US Government in electronics and information security. Its electronics group provides communication and radar system products and services.
